Watch Dog List

This list is to help us keep in mind as this project gets built.

  1. The floor slopes the right way in the garage so the heat storage water leaks will drain out the doors
  2. Other slopes in concrete...
  3. No Thermal bridges
  4. No air leaks
  5. Drainback slope on pipes to old main
  6. plumbing insulate
  7. short ducts on cold side of heat exchanger
  8. All water pipes and cables for sensors going through concrete must be protected by PVC electrical conduit.
  1. what else?

Foundation, Substructure plumbing, wiring, conduits, sensors

Umbilical to Old Main

Process: Dig up old one back to where it starts to slope up to old main, then sewer gets rigid 2" pipe that shoots straight to the new sump and MUST drain back to the sump in the trench of the greenhouse. Possibly run a 1 inch line inside 2 inch to reduce drainback volume.

Run as many 1/2 and 3/4 pipes as possible within the 4 inch corrugated conduit.
Fresh water, heat source, heat return, communications, spare, spare

Electric and communications mount on west wall of greenhouse
Plumbing goes to trench
Drainback sewer goes to lift pump; sump is located near east end of west greenhouse, in trench

greenhouse details

  1. Floor drain:
2" pipe just under concrete to make drain along center of the greenhouse floor
Make sure pins stick up out of concrete to mark the ends of the pipe,
....or have a cleanout access at the ends of pipe.
Cut slot in concrete and pipe.
Pipe slopes from end to center
From center, Tee a branch off to the trench
Concrete floor slopes to drain slot

  1. Trench 30"x30" concrete blocks
all drain pipes go directly to trench (with no trap)
Trench floor will slope to center and drain to sump

Sensors

  1. Vertical sensor pipe under the kitchen island going below the foam layer under the heat storage.
  2. Vertical zigzag sensors show up under the kitchen island in 2. 7 sensors between the slab and the heat storage insulation. These will be under the floor in various places but come back to the kitchen island.
